What kinds of dog gifts should you get for your dog?

This article is not about any specific dog gifts, or pet gifts in particular, but rather is about the kinds of dog gifts that dogs seem to enjoy the most and is based entirely on personal observations (sorry, no scientific study here...).

One of the most obvious dog gifts that your dog will probably enjoy quite a bit is simply a favorite dog food, dog treat or dog chew treat. OK, this may not seem much like a "dog gift" but I am referring to the things that they actually really like.

Most dogs seem to like dog gifts that they can chew and/or tug on! Many also like balls and/or Frisbees to catch, fetch and return. For puppies, of course, it is a big advantage to find the kinds of dog gifts that they will enjoy chewing (into pieces, if necessary) to save the rest of your belongings from those (sometimes) little teeth!

Dogs love dog gifts that they can chew! I remember seeing a documentary on how they trained airport drug sniffing dogs. One of their biggest rewards that they got was a "chewable" toy to play with when they did their job (along with lots of praise, of course, and a small treat, I believe). This is a majorly big thing for them!

Our dogs always liked the "right sized" and right textured balls as dog gifts also. Some would stand the test of time, others... well, they can make a dog gifts (or puppy gifts) over and over again :-).
